Instead of measuring a year by likes and follows, I’ve put a slightly different spin on the normal “top nine”. Following on from a tradition I started last year, I’ve documented my favourite memories of 2018 as a doodle. It was really gratifying to look back on the year and capture these moments as a sketch – even if my drawing skills aren’t the most polished!
Here are my Top Nine, in no particular order…
Visiting Salt Lake City for the Cricut Make-A-Thon. This was, without doubt, the best week of my whole year! I had the BEST time hanging out with fellow crafters, teaching people about the Cricut Maker and exploring the National Parks of Utah.
Being appointed as the UK Ambassador for Singer. Pretty much a dream come true! I’ve been sewing since I was a teen, so it was amazing to get to work with such an iconic brand as Singer.
Teaching at the Handmade Fair with Kirstie Allsopp. This was an incredible weekend. I met so many people, taught three classes and even won a Mollie Makes Mash Up on the main stage!
Joining Hochanda as a Guest Presenter. I’m an actual TV presenter now! It’s so exciting to be representing Cricut, one of my absolute fave brands, on such a well-known crafting channel. There will be more shows in 2019, so keep your eyes peeled!
Shortlisted for multiple craft awards. This was the year of award nominations for me… from Pinterest and Amara, to the Craft Business Magazine and Rex London. Fingers crossed this carries on in 2019!
A mini break to Lison, Portugal. It was so nice to spend a few days in this beautiful city, eating custard tarts and sampling port.
My first nephew was born. I can’t believe Noah is now almost a year old already!
My friends got married! I still feel weird to be at that age where loads of my pals are getting married… but it’s so nice to attend the weddings and celebrate with them!
Lots of features in craft magazines. I LOVE writing for magazines. This year, I wrote and photographed for Mollie Makes, Making Cards and Papercraft, Create and Craft magazine and more!
I’d absolutely recommend giving this Top Nine doodle a go yourself. It’s good to go analogue and get those memories on paper, in a slightly more unusual (and special!) way. 🙂
Happy New Year! – Mike.
