I’ve been sewing for about 10 years now (wowzers, that makes me feel old…). I love it. I started off by teaching myself how to sew the basics, like straight seams, button holes and applique. Over the years, I’ve gotten to know my sewing machine so much better – and the quality of my creations has definitely improved.
Want to know something surprising? Until this week, I was still using my very first sewing machine on all of my projects! Yep, my 10-year-old, massively outdated and painfully basic sewing machine. It’s a trusty old thing, but the truth is that I outgrew it years ago…
That’s why I’m SO excited to announce that I’m working with Singer on a long-term collaboration to be their new Singer brand ambassador. Woohoo! So you best be ready for loads of sewing projects and inspiration – I’ve got heaps of ideas, and I can’t wait to share them with you!
What is a Singer brand ambassador?
In a nutshell, being a Singer brand ambassador means that I’ll be collaborating with them on loads of craft projects and blog posts over the next 12 months. The team have kindly gifted me their Singer 7285Q Patchwork sewing machine to help with this. So it’s goodbye to my old machine, and hello to a whole new world of sewing possibilities! The craft geek inside me is SO HAPPY. 🙂
As well as sharing DIY projects, I’ll also be on hand to answer any Singer-related questions you guys might have. I’ll give honest reviews of my new machine, and share plenty of behind the scenes snippets via my social media (especially Instagram, so be sure to follow me there). It’s gonna be fun!
Unboxing the Singer 7285Q Patchwork sewing machine
To kick things off, I wanted to bring you guys along with me as I unbox my new Singer 7285Q Patchwork sewing machine. This was a very exciting delivery to receive earlier this week! Here’s what I got inside…
Eeeeeek! So many accessories! ? Not gonna lie, I didn’t even know what half of these things do until I looked them up in the instructions book. As well as the usual things (replacement needles, spare bobbins etc), there’s also a grand total of TEN different sewing machine feet. Ten! I can’t wait to try them and explore what they all do.
Since getting it, I’ve been playing with my new Singer sewing machine at every chance I get. I flipping LOVE it! It’s got a nice sturdy weight and looks really professional. Even the dust cover is impressive, with an embroidered logo and side pocket for the extendable table. It’s also got loads of features I didn’t even know existed. Needle threader? Yep. Automatic button holes? Oh yes. Zillions of stitch designs? Hell yeah.
I’ve already planned my first Singer sewing tutorial, so keep an eye out for that in the coming weeks! And in the meantime, feel free to comment below if you have any questions on my machine, Singer, or sewing in general – I would love to hear from you! 🙂 – Mike.
This post was sponsored by Singer, but all opinions are my own. I only ever work with brands I love, and that fit with The Crafty Gentleman. Thank you for supporting the brands that keep me blogging!
