Whoa, September has been a busy ol’ month! In some respects, it’s zoomed by… but I also cannot believe quite how much has happened in just four weeks. It was definitely a month of two halves. I started off in full-on summer mode, reminiscing about my San Francisco holiday. But now we’re at the end of the month, I’m definitely in the autumn zone. I’m day dreaming of pumpkins and golden brown leaves!

Like I say, way back at the start of September I was still in that afterglow of holiday season. I shared a look at my San Francsico travels – did you see? Take a look at my San Francisco video here and my Yosemite National Park video here. I also shared a look into my very first scrapbook (yes, my first ever scrapbook!). You can see more in this blog post, where I shared a page-by-page read through. Even thinking about it makes me want to go back! One day…

On the flip side, my day-job has been super hectic this month. For those that don’t know, I’m the head of digital marketing for a creative agency called Brown Dog. We specialise in interiors and home décor, so September is a BIG month for us. It’s when loads of the key industry trade shows happen, and trends for the following year start to emerge. Because of this, I spent a few days in early September trend-spotting at Paris Design Week. It was so good – really interesting, totally exhausting and endlessly inspiring. I also headed down to London Design Festival for another trade show. Lots of travel this month!

Amongst all of this activity, I did have a bit of time to keep up with some crafts. I shared a nice and simple tutorial for an autumnal wreath – check it out here. I’ve had some great feedback on this over on Instagram; it’s great to hear how many people are planning on making one for their own homes! I also showed you guys how to add some DIY piping to a cushion in this blog post. I’m still loving these cushions, they worked out so well!

I also interviewed Kyle Kunnecke ahead of the Loch Ness Knit Fest. It was really interesting to learn more about his experiences and expertise in knitting and needle craft. (I also loved getting to talk to a fellow male knitter!).

As I’m writing this, I’m sat on the sofa at my mum’s house in Cheshire. It was her birthday this month, so I’m visiting her for the weekend to celebrate. We went on a seven mile hike through the countryside yesterday (you might have seen some of this on my Instagram Stories). I LOVE long walks like this, especially at this time of year. The trees are really starting to get that autumnal look now, with bright orange-yellow leaves fluttering everywhere. 😍 Even the rain storm that we got caught up in didn’t dampen our spirits!

As much as September has been a crazy busy and exciting month, I gotta say – I’m psyched that it’s now October. Anyone that knows me well, will be aware that October is my favourite month! I’m excited to see what the next four weeks will bring… 🎃 Hope you’ve had a great September! – Mike.

P.S. There’s only a few weeks until my next craft workshop, where I’ll be teaching how to make your very own Lino prints! See more and book tickets here. It’s gonna be a fun afternoon!
