The last few weekends have pretty busy for me, as I prepare for the upcoming Cricut Make-A-Thon conference in Salt Lake City. It’s now just one week until I fly out! I thought I’d give you guys a little look behind the scenes, so you can see how my prep is going. 🙂
First up, I’ve been cutting things out on my Cricut Maker like an absolute mad man! I want to have plenty of projects to show my talk attendees, so I can really showcase how awesome the Maker is. To help me, Cricut kindly sent me a pretty gigantic delivery of craft goodies! They know the way to my heart. 😉
Since my Cricut Make-A-Thon talk will be about cutting fabrics, I’ve been focussing on making sewing projects. So far I’ve made a dinosaur plushie (DIY coming soon!) and this flower pot gift. I’ve also just put the finishing touches to the bum bag you can see in the photos… I think this is one of my all-time favourite makes! I used the template on Cricut Design Space to cut the outer canvas and inner cotton (which is a Cricut fabric), and then sewed it all together with my Singer.
Next, I’m hoping to make a neck tie and a bow tie, using the Cricut project templates. However, time is definitely against me! (I work a full-time job, so I’ve technically only got 2 free days left until I fly!).
I’ve also been in regular talks with the Cricut USA team. We’ve had a few conference calls and video chats to make sure everything is aligned. It still feels weird whenever I talk to them… I can’t quite get over the fact that I’ll be flying out to meet them all in person soon! With the time difference, it’s been pretty tricky to have these talks. For instance, the first call I had took place at midnight (!!), which was mid-afternoon for them. Luckily, I didn’t need to video call on this one – so they didn’t see my sleepy face! 😛
Be sure to follow me on Instagram so you can follow along when I’m in Salt Lake City – just hit the image below. I’ll be sharing loads of pics and videos from the Cricut Make-A-Thon. I’m also thinking of doing a little live video tour of the conference centre… you don’t wanna miss that! 🙂 – Mike.
