Kirstie Allsopp presents: The Handmade Fair 2018 at Ragley Hall

Last weekend, Kirstie Allsopp’s Handmade Fair 2018 took place in the beautiful grounds of Ragley Hall. It was a crafter’s dream come true! I was there for the full three days. I ran workshops, got interviewed on the main stage, took part in a live craft-off and met loads of awesome makers. Phew, what a weekend! Amongst all of the crafty fun, I managed to take a few photos and videos. Be warned: this blog post is pretty photo heavy!…

A weekend in Lisbon Portugal | Travel Blog | The Crafty Gentleman

A mini break in Lisbon, Portugal (with video!)

I ticked a big item off my bucket list earlier this month. I spent a long weekend in Lisbon, one of the foodie capitals of Europe! It was every bit as picturesque and dreamy as I was hoping. We spent 4 days exploring colourful streets, eating custard tarts (SO TASTY) and strolling along the waterfront. You’d never suspect it from the photos, but the weather was a bit hit-and-miss (we got caught in a huuuge rainstorm on the first day). But we…

Happy Dough Lucky Pizza and Desserts restaurant pop up Nottingham

Happy Dough Lucky

As I write this, it’s Thursday afternoon. I’m slobbing on my sofa, typing away on my MacBook, with a cup of peppermint tea next to me. I’m still in a blissful food coma. Last night, Gareth and I went to the blogger’s launch event of a new pop-up restaurant in Nottingham, called Happy Dough Lucky. Holy flipping crap it was GOOD. Like, really, really, really good! Happy Dough Lucky At 8pm, we made our way to the steps of the Lacehouse Bar in Nottingham’s…

Nottingham Light Night - The Crafty Gentleman installation at Handmade Nottingham
in DIY + Crafts, Events, Life, Wood

See my DIY window display for Nottingham Light Night!

I’m lucky enough to live in Nottingham; one of the most creative cities in the UK. (Don’t believe me? Nottingham has more indie/creative businesses than any other UK city outside of London!). I love this city. It’s been my home for more than four years now. I moved here straight after Uni, with no friends nearby, no family, no-one. But I consciously threw myself into the creative scene, and quickly grew a strong network of friends, fellow blogger pals and like-minded creatives….

I'm an uncle - My new nephew
in Life

I’m an Uncle!

This weekend, something pretty big happened… I met my first ever nephew! Meet, Noah Francis Bladen, born on the 11th February 2018. I couldn’t resist sharing some photos with you guys – he’s just too damn cute not to show off! My sister lives in Portsmouth, which is a 3-4 hour drive from my house in Nottingham. So this weekend was the first chance I’d had to meet Noah. We decided to make a mini holiday of the trip. Myself,…

My new Cricut Maker: unboxing and first impressions

This week, my obsession with Cricut reached new heights… because I’m now the proud owner of the new Cricut Maker! OMG OMG OMG. Still freaking out about it! If you read my blog regularly, you’ll no doubt be aware that I love Cricut. I’ve been chatting about them for months, ever since getting my first Cricut Explore Air last year. (If you’re wondering what the heck I’m chatting about, then a Cricut is an electronic cutting machine that’s specialised for crafts.)….

Singer Brand Ambassador - Craft sewing blogger - The Crafty Gentleman
in Life

I’m a Singer brand ambassador!

I’ve been sewing for about 10 years now (wowzers, that makes me feel old…). I love it. I started off by teaching myself how to sew the basics, like straight seams, button holes and applique. Over the years, I’ve gotten to know my sewing machine so much better – and the quality of my creations has definitely improved. Want to know something surprising? Until this week, I was still using my very first sewing machine on all of my projects!…
